June 10, 2008Arcticulates ®Focusing on Alaska's BeautyAuthor: K. Fields~ ~ Blooming Prosperity ~ ~Wildflowers grow all in massive amounts in Alaska, everywhere you look you will see big patches of wildflowers, of every color. I guess after 8 months of extreme cold, the ground is ready to break out in blooms as much as we are as ready to see them. They come in all sizes and colors. Some years they are more abundant, and this year we have an amazing large array of colors and types. First Spring Flower, The Beautiful, Fragrant, Wild Sweet Pea
The first things that we get in the early spring, are the beautiful magenta color wild Sweet Pea. They are one of my absolute favorites. They smell wonderful and they color is amazing, Ranging from light pink, and blue, to dark purplish red, and magenta. They grow wild all along the roadsides and here and there in the fields, and they seem to like where it is very sunny. When cut, they seem to last forever in a vase of water. The Next Beautiful wild flower that comes up is the Frigid Arnica, a beautiful yellow daisy type flower with a orangey yellow middle. Beautiful Sunny Yellow Alaska Wildflower Frigid Arnica
They grow wild in Huge patches along the roadsides, and in the open fields. These pretty sunny flowers seem to like the sunny areas. Huge Patch of Sunny Yellow Alaska Wildflower Frigid Arnica
The next are another one of my favorites, it is called the Chiming Bells, or another name is Bluebells, each little flower is about the size of your little finger’s nail. They are delicate, but sturdy plants, they grow wild all over the wooded areas and usually in a mixture of other wild flowers. Alaska's Wildflower: Chiming Bells
They seem to like it in the shady areas near trees. Tho some grow along the roadsides too. They are light blues and they have a purple look when they are just buds. They are a very popular flower here in the interior. Delicately Beautiful Blue Alaska's Wildflower Chiming Bells
There are more beautiful wildflowers to come as summer progresses! Later... K Fields See: Pocketful of Posies!
