Cooking in Alaska
Sourdough Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients:
- 1
cup Sourdough Starter
- 1
cup milk
- 4
cups flour
- 3/4
cup butter
- 1
cup sugar
- 1
cup dark molasses
- 2
eggs
- 2 tsp
baking powder
- 1
tsp baking soda
- 1.5
tsp nutmeg
- 1.5
tsp ginger
- 2
tsp cinnamon
- 1/2
tsp ground cloves
- 1/2
tsp salt
- Whipped
Cream
Directions:
Mix
and let stand for about 12 hours:
After 12 hours:
- Cream
together butter, sugar, then mix in molasses and eggs.
- Then
stir while adding last of the flour, baking powder and soda, Cinnamon,
nutmeg, ginger, salt and cloves.
- Pour
into greased and floured 10" tube/bundt pan. ( I use the
pretty shaped
ones)
- Bake
approx 50 minutes at 350'F
- Serves
up to 14
- Serve
with dollop of whipped Cream!
K's tips!
I usually like to serve this while it is warm. It is my absolute
favorite, course I like anything with ginger in it.
This can also be served with a big mug of hot chocolate or spiced apple
cider as a refreshing snack or warm up after being outside in the cold!
