... SNOWFLAKE SEASON! ... |
Sunday, September 28, 2008~ SNOWFLAKE SEASON! ~We
have
had our first snow of the winter season today. I got up early
around 5:30 am and there
seemed to be a heavy frost on the ground, couldn't really tell because it was still dark outside, but as the morning grew brighter it started snowing. Very light Covering of Snow Around 9 This Morning
I ran out and took a few pictures to put on this blog, the first snow of the season, is so that I could share with all the people who stop by and read. The first snow of the season is always so exciting, for some reason everyone seems to get into some kinda weird sad attitude because the summer is over. Dreading when the first snow will begin. But when that first snow happens it seems to pull everyone out of it and smiles appear everywhere. It's like well... a bad attitude couldn't keep the snow from happening... it snowed anyways... so let's just enjoy it. Snow Gently Covering Everything
I love the snow, I feel the same way everyone else does at first, not really wanting to get outdoors ready for snow, and dragging out the snow shovels, gloves etc. But when I first see the snow start falling, I get this funny excited feeling inside. It is so amazing to watch. So unbelievable to see fluffy little specks of ice falling gently out of the sky. Watching it layer over everything, covering up the browns and tans from the end of autumn season. Cleaning things up and giving everything a brighter look. I guess it must be the little girl in me that seems to never get enough of watching it snow, standing in it looking up and feeling the tingles of the little flakes landing on my face, eyelashes dusted with snowflakes, red cheeks and noses from the cold nip in the air.. Photo by K. Fields Of course now that we have had the "dreaded" first snow, and everyone is reminded again of the fun of it, things look brighter again. The temperatures are still in the 20's so it is warm enough to go outside and enjoy playing in the new snow, plus it is good snowball and snowman snow, cuz it hasn't gotten too cold yet. Because when it gets too cold then the snow is like powder and won't stick to itself. Taken One Hour After the First Picture on This Post
So now that I have shared about the first snow of the starting winter season here in the interior of Alaska, I am going to go outside now and shovel off my car and play with the grandkids in the snow... See also: Glimpse of Autumn!Later... K Fields
