Someone With A Brain

I have thought about it for a little while and have decided to address a comment on one of my blog posts. I usually do not make a habit of this, but in this case I feel compelled.

Here is the commenter’s response to my post Sarah Palin. This commenter has chosen to be called "Someone with a brain".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You have got to be kidding. This woman is a walking end to everything we value in this country. I do not agree with abortion -- BUT it is NOT the right of the government to tell me what to do with my body. And stop with the drilling and start finding alternative sources for energy. What about all those tax breaks for the rich- they are certainly not going to help me put my kids thru school. NO WAY NO HOW. Just because she is a woman does not make SARAH a good choice..and please stop killing defenseless animals --they are NOT overpopulating the earth -WE ARE”
My…you certainly are dramatic aren’t you? Claiming one woman “is a walking end to everything we value in this country”… This is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard!
Since I made no mention of abortion in my post but you brought it up… I will say that I personally feel all human life should be cherished… I also admire people who live what they supposedly stand for… I would rather know that someone in a leadership position is willing to walk the talk, then to constantly wonder if they are just walking in assumption and parroting what they feel "we the people" want to hear, and let me clarify this… I am not saying that Senator Obama is parroting or assuming… I thought I should add that… since you have addressed other things that I didn’t write about…
Maybe YOU should start finding alternative energy sources instead of ordering me to do it for you. I am assuming and I may be wrong… that you don’t have to resort to heating fuel to keep warm in -30 or lower temperatures for 6 -7 months (longer in some areas) a year. So do you really think that Alaskan’s who are paying a premium price to survive will take your demands seriously and are not also concerned about finding a better, less expensive energy source?
Why should I be concerned about you putting your children through school? You are an adult… (another assumption on my part…) you chose to have children knowing full well the cost…
Not anywhere on my post did you read that Governor Palin makes a good choice because she is a woman… But since you brought it up… In my opinion I think it would be good to have a woman in one of the top leadership positions in this country. We have both men and women that reside in United States… so we should have the same in leadership… unless equality is just a word being tossed around to placate and is not really meant to be taken seriously. We could use a little balance in the Oval Office for a change.
There are a lot of people that live in Alaska that hunt and fish for food; it is a major staple in their diets. Oh…and here’s a kicker… they wear leather and fur too… to keep warm, because man-made products cannot hold up to the cold, nor does the warmth value last very long… but too tell the truth.. I really don’t care if that offends you. I have grown tired of people like you who think it is okay to tell others how they can live, what they can eat and what to wear…yet in the same breath complain if someone does the same to them. We have wildlife conservation firmly set into place here in Alaska for a good reason, we also have a subsistence program that allow “Alaska residents” to hunt and fish to feed their families.
My address to your last statement on people over populating the earth… The problem this world has today is not human over-population… it is human greed… if people would stop the… it’s all about me… me… me… attitude and start using the… let’s help each other out… attitude, then maybe things could change for the better!
Okay I am off my soapbox now… I will be moderating comments now until after the elections, because I do not feel compelled to address every single person who decides to take it upon themselves to be disrespectfully rude and rant about their issues on my blog!
My opinion is… if anyone’s views/opinions are important enough that they feel the need to proclaim them…then… they can buy their own internet domain or start up their own blog and do it there… Just like I did!
Later...
